INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS

Logging in:

  • Go to http://gardinerfoundation.smartygrants.com.au/

  • Applicants who have not previously used the SmartyGrants online grant management system must register as a new user. This involves entering your email address and receiving a password.

  • Applicants who have used the system before will need to login using their existing username and password.

Compulsory Registration (Innovation applicants only):

  • All applicants to the 2012 Innovation funding round are required to register their interest in obtaining funding by completing an Expression of Interest form.

  • After this form has been submitted, a Program Manager will contact applicants to discuss the project plan.

  • Then a full application form will be made available to applicants.

Filling in the application form:

  • Please read the Funding Guidelines carefully before writing your application.

  • Applicants must complete this online application form and submit before 5pm on the closing date. Late applications will not be accepted by the online system.

  • Questions marked with an asterisk* are compulsory and must be answered.

  • Applicants can save their form and logout of the system at any time and resume their application simply by logging back in.

  • Applicants should save their progress regularly. Beware that if your application is left idle for an hour or more, the SmartyGrants system will revert to standby mode – you will lose any work since you last saved!

Attachments to the application form:

  • All attachments must be in PDF, MS Word or MS Excel format only.

  • The project Budget, Milestone Schedule, and team members’ CVs for Innovation applications, must be provided on the relevant Gardiner Foundation templates. Please click to download the templates:

  • Budget Table template
    Milestone Table template
    CV template (Innovation applications only)
    Model Project Agreement or Letter of Agreement for funding up to $100,000.

    Community & People Development project team members’ CVs do not need to be provided on the Gardiner Foundation template, but they must be kept brief and relevant - under 3 pages in length please.

  • Any Figures or Tables you wish to include in your application must be uploaded as attachments in either MS Word or PDF format, clearly labeled, and referenced in the relevant form text field.

  • Supporting documentation – such as business cases, background plans, etc. – can be attached to the application, but please provide these only if they are absolutely necessary..
