People Development

The Victorian dairy industry has a multitude of career opportunities and employs approximately 50,000 people in diverse jobs ranging from farm based roles through to international trade.

Gardiner Dairy Foundation brings value to the dairy industry by developing people to create leaders. We do this by investing in current and emerging leaders and enhancing opportunities for the dairy industry’s people. Clear career pathways for young people, leadership development and good farm business management practices are important aspects to focus on to  attract and retain people and advance a vibrant dairy future.

Areas of support

Gardiner Dairy Foundation invests in the people that make up the dairy industry in Victoria – from students to emerging industry leaders both on farm and in the  service sector. It’s vital that support is given to the industry by addressing skill and capability gaps, investing in education and training opportunities and developing future leaders.

Our investment approach

The dairy industry needs leaders that are motivated to evolve business and production systems for the future. The industry is facing increased international competition and higher price volatility. Gardiner Dairy Foundation’s People Development strategy is aligned with our Constitution and the national framework ‘Dairy Moving Forward’. Our enhanced approach to leadership and people development includes opportunities for farmers to be involved in Community Leadership and Farm Business Management programs and Australia’s leading research opportunity for primary producers –  Nuffield Farming Scholarships.
