Gardiner Dairy Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2018 New Zealand (NZ) Study Tour.

The eight-day tour will provide young dairy farmers with the opportunity to gain a strategic understanding of the NZ dairy industry’s operations and cultivate leadership capabilities.

Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with representatives from the Federated Farmers of NZ. The tour is underpinned by structured study in agriculture at a certificate IV level, to formalise key learnings.

The NZ Study Tour is an innovative leadership initiative organised by the United Dairyfarmers of Victoria (UDV) and funded by the Gardiner Dairy Foundation.

Chief Executive of the Gardiner Dairy Foundation, Mary Harney, has outlined that the NZ Study Tour provides unsurpassed development opportunities for participants.

“Gardiner Dairy Foundation is proud to offer young industry leaders with inspiring, educational opportunities as part of a long-term commitment to the success of the dairy industry.

“The NZ Study Tour will provide a setting for like-minded young dairy industry representatives to collaborate on their passion for the dairy industry,” said Mary Harney.

Alistair Harris participated in the NZ Study Tour in 2017 and encourages young members of the dairy industry to apply.

“Anyone with an interest in dairy industry leadership is urged to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities that are offered as part of the NZ Study Tour, not only for individual development but for the wider growth of the industry,” said Alistair Harris.

To be eligible for the NZ Study Tour, participants must be aged between 18 and 35 years old, hold a current Australian passport, be actively involved in the dairy industry, either on or off-farm, and be currently enrolled or have recently completed studies relating to the dairy industry.

Applications for the NZ Study Tour will close on Monday, 16 October 2017 and selection interviews will be held in Melbourne.
