The Gardiner Dairy Foundation is calling for Victorian dairy farmers to apply for Farm Business Management Program (FBMP) scholarships, which are now open until Friday, 10 March 2017.

Now in the third consecutive year, the FBMP is a joint collaboration between the Gardiner Dairy Foundation and the Victorian Regional Development Programs to provide successful applicants with skills to manage their farms effectively.

Ten scholarships will be offered with placement in one of three courses: Australian Rural Leadership Program; Institute of Business Owners – Australian Owner Manager Program; or Rabobank Executive Development Program.

The Gardiner Dairy Foundation will contribute $1 million over three years to the FBMP as part of investment into people development, which complements its vision to ensure a vibrant dairy future.

Chief Executive of the Gardiner Dairy Foundation, Mary Harney, said the program will greatly assist participants within the dairy industry and provide flow on benefits to the wider agriculture sector.

“Farmers faced one of the most challenging dairying seasons in 2016 and the 2017 FBMP scholarships have come at a particularly helpful time.

“The program will give more Victorian farmers the skills to respond to dairy related challenges and opportunities confidently, whilst giving back to the industry by sharing the learnings they have gained,” said Ms Harney.

Successful scholars will also join the Gardiner Dairy Foundation’s Australian Dairy Leadership Alumni, which will provide extensive opportunities relating to professional development and collaboration with like-minded individuals.

Applications for the 2017 FBMP scholarships are now open and will close on Friday, 10 March 2017. Victorian dairy farm owners are encouraged to apply, with interviews being held in Melbourne from  28 March to 30 March, 2017.
