In early February, Gardiner Dairy Foundation joined the Foundation for Rural and Regional renewal (FRRR) to deliver workshops on how to successfully apply for community grants. We visited the communities of Foster, Peterborough and Numurkah.

Whilst in the regions, we also visited past grant recipients. One of the groups visited was the Mirboo North Playgroup and Toy Library. In 2019 they received a grant for educational resources and toys that initiate engagement with Aboriginal culture to build an inclusive, culturally diverse environment for children in the community. A couple of weeks ago FRRR joined us when we met with Sarah, one of the volunteers to have a look at the resources being enjoyed by children in Mirboo North’s broader community.

Another group visited was Fish Creek Community Garden. In 2018, they received a grant to establish wicking beds and compost construction. A grant received in 2019 will be used to commission and install a new art work at the community garden.
